Welcome to my blog! I am 3 weeks away from my departure from this country and my arrival in New Zealand! Brian, my wonderful boyfriend, and I will be living and working with Marj and Bob on their vineyard. Marj has been a good friend of my family since I was five. 3 years ago they asked if I wanted to visit them and pick grapes for the harvest. This adventure has been in the works ever since.
Last weekend Brian and I met Marj in Galesburg, IL where Marj was visiting her mother (and where Brian and I went to school at KNOX COLLEGE!). Marj filled us in on important information about what to bring (warm socks, SUNSCREEN, man-hands) and what we could expect as far as the vineyard growing cylces go--lots of hard work.
I really enjoy blogging about my adventures so that I can share my amazing experiences with my friends, family and strangers. Please leave comments and questions-- I would love to hear from you and answer and questions--sometimes my musings can be confusing.
In the near future I will post a little about the process we went through to get our visas as well as the mad dash to get everything done in the next 3 weeks before I am gone for "a year."
